Deepsea Mira: Tamboti-1x Drilling
The Tamboti-1X exploration well – drilled by the Deepsea Mira for TotalEnergies in Namibia's Orange Basin – required shore base logistics running simultaneously out of Walvis Bay and Lüderitz, paired with crewing capable of matching the pace and technical complexity of a frontier deepwater operation. Afrishore mobilised the integrated package from day one: shore base operations, materials handling and the deployment of specialist offshore personnel, sequenced to keep the rig supplied and the drilling schedule intact across both ports.
The campaign completed on schedule and within budget, with zero recordable incidents across the full Afrishore scope in both locations. The shore base workforce was predominantly Namibian – personnel developed through Afrishore's local content and skills transfer programmes, carrying uninterrupted Orange Basin operational experience since 2022 – working alongside international specialists.
Tamboti-1X proved the dual-port logistics and crewing model Afrishore built for Namibia's offshore sector. The same team, systems and infrastructure carried directly into the Deepsea Mira's next campaigns at Volans-1x and Kharas-1.
